Green heritage and green infrastructure : evolution or revolution in society? The annual flagship event of Hortis will be held in the Albi's Grand Theater in France on 5 to 7 October 2016. It will this year takes an European dimension partnering World Urban Parks (WUP)

The city’s heritage of parks and natural spaces will have a greater social, cultural, environmental and economic importance. How will these spaces evolve to meet the expectations of different European populations in the twenty-first century?

Near 300 participants, professionals, experts and elected officials, are expected from around the world to share their vision of the evolution of green and natural spaces in the city, in all their dimensions.

Wednesday & Thursday October 5th & 6th 2016, Conferences :

- The various contributions of green spaces throughout history : what can we learn from the history of parks and gardens as a heritage in the evolution of European cities? What models of cities can we choose for tomorrow, and how can we build them also involving citizens?

- Green heritage and its contribution to society : the contribution of the green heritage in terms values (including social equality, freedom and democracy, quality of life, happiness) thanks to its functions of sharing and exchange , of connecting people, preserving biodiversity... The socio-economic aspects of the green heritage will also be highlighted.

- the evolution of green areas in modern society: simultaneous conferences and workshops animated by experts. The synthesis of those workshops will be presented Friday, October 7th

This last day will also allow visits : the gardens of the River Graulhet designed by the renowned landscape architect, Arnaud Maurières, or the leisure of Pratgraussals in Albi and its future connection with the Episcopal city, or the gardens of Domino association Roquesérière.
